Onsite Preparation

Removing doors and drawer faces for offsite preparation and refinishing. Deep cleaning and sanding cabinet boxes with high effective filtration systems.

Priming and Final Sanding

With the home protected, including masking and ventilation in place, we apply bonding primer.

This primer creates a strong bond and seals the wood, providing a solid base for the finish coat. It also blocks stains and tannins from the wood. Once the primer dries, we lightly sand it to ensure a smooth surface for the finish coat.

We'll also fill gaps, fix any imperfections to ensure the cabinets are ready for a factory-quality finish.

Protection masking

Covering floors and countertops with heavy duty protection paper. Masking off around and inside of the cabinet boxes to prevent overspraying.

Appliances are also masked off for added protection. We create a temporary barrier around the workspace using telescopic poles and plastic sheets from floor to ceiling.

Finally, a ventilation system is set up to remove any odors from the home.

Installation and Final Touches

Once your doors and drawer faces are finished (usually in 3-5 business days), we’ll return to install them.

After installation, we’ll offer a final walkthrough so you can see your newly updated kitchen in its entirety!

Applying Two Finish Coats

With the primer sanded, we apply two finish professional-grade waterborne coats.

This finish meets the strict durability and household chemicals resistance standards set by the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA), which is a tough standard for most paints.

Once the two coats are applied, your cabinets will have a fresh, factory-like appearance and durability.

Cleaning Up the Work Area

We’ll take down the temporary wall, remove all masking tape, paper, and plastic, and dispose of any trash.

Your kitchen will look just as it did before we started. It will be fully functional, but your doors and drawer faces will be missing.

They will be refinished at our facility over the next few days, following the same process as your cabinets: clean, sand, prime, resand, and apply two coats of our specialty finish.
